This artist-in-residence complex was designed as a place for creativity and production for two artists inhabiting the space at six month intervals. The building’s two distinct volumes highlight each artist’s individual gallery/studio space. The placement of both of these volumes relative to each other also creates an outdoor shared space.
Other functions include a shared lounge room, private outdoor courtyard, a bathing space, and secluded resting spaces. This project forms part of a larger museum complex that makes up the historical urban core of Sharjah and thus plays a considerable role in the cultural rejuvenation of the area.
